Face & Scalp Massage Series — Part Two Targeted Facial Techniques for Specific Conditions Instructor: Valerie Karpiel, LMT, MTI, CEP Location: Handcrafted Therapy Training Center 2095 N. Collins Blvd #201, Richardson, TX 75080 Time: 2:00pm - 6:00pm Tuition: $150 - includes: small bottle of facial oil 4 CE hours Course Description This course is the second installment in the Face & Scalp Massage Series and builds upon the foundational principles and techniques introduced in Part One. Part Two provides an in-depth exploration of targeted, evidence-informed facial and scalp massage techniques designed to address specific concerns within the massage therapy scope of practice. Emphasis is placed on working with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, Bell’s palsy considerations, and common tension patterns affecting the eyes, mouth, and forehead. Practitioners will learn how to assess facial tension patterns and apply appropriate techniques to support relaxation, reduce holding patterns, and enhance client comfort. Learning Objectives Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: -Identify common facial and scalp tension patterns related to TMJ dysfunction, Bell’s palsy considerations, and facial expression muscles -Demonstrate targeted face and scalp massage techniques appropriate for specific facial concerns -Apply techniques safely and effectively within the massage therapy scope of practice -Modify pressure, pacing, and positioning to support client comfort and relaxation -Integrate targeted facial techniques into existing massage sessions or facial services Valerie Karpiel, LMT, MTI, CEP Valerie knows there is no single approach that works for everyone, so she continues to educate herself on therapies that benefit her clientele. She has received her Massage Therapy Instructor License and Continuing Education Provider License for the state of Texas. During Wyoming’s off seasons, she travels back to Texas to not only educate therapists but to see her loyal Texas clients.
